Pros

  • Play through 10 different levels
  • Speed and abuse tankers, tow trucks and semi-trucks
  • Intuitive game controls

Cons

  • Sound effects are just okay
  • Needs more than just timed missions

Rolling in style on 18 wheels of intimidating metal, Truck Driver 3D sits you behind the steering wheel of a semi-truck as you agree to pick up multi-ton trailers and drive that heavy machinery to your drop off point to get paid. Along with trucks, you will switch out for bulldozers, tow trucks and tankers, as you try not to leave a fiery carnage of banged up cars in your wake. Truck Driver 3D lets you play through 10 different levels and each of them will come with four sets of scenarios. When the level first starts, dispatch will brief you on the mission. To give an example, you might have to tow several cars parked illegally and haul them to a location decided on prior. You could also get a call for helping with the transport of a humongous boulder using your bulldozer to load it onto your 18 wheeler.

Whatever mission you decide to challenge yourself on, you will regularly race against the clock as you control and guide your truck. The graphics of Truck Driver 3D look decent enough, but they're certainly not flawless. You will notice a couple bugs with the graphics. For example, the scenarios will details many things, but unfortunately, they don't look detailed enough to hold a gamer's attention with more modern tastes. Also, the animations were poorly rendered, and when you crash into another car, it looks terribly unrealistic. Nevertheless, the game physics ascend to another plane and the trajectories look well executed.

Truck Driver 3D lets you play from two different perspectives. You can choose to speed down the highway from inside the truck cabin, or you can hit the highway with a third person view of the semi-truck. Because of the zoom feature, you can choose to either widen or narrow your view of the highway. Unfortunately the game suffers from a lot of mediocrity. You see a lot of average things in the game, but nothing to really distinguish the game as a jaw-dropping title. However, Truck Driver 3D will only appeal to a certain niche of gamer anyway. While the sound effects are okay, it still leaves a lot to be desired. For people who want a simulator of the more original style, you will find it with Truck Driver 3D. The game does lack some of the technical details, but it's an interesting game, nevertheless.

Where a lot of gamers will fall in love is if they want to maximize the return on their gaming investment. The game keeps your mind stimulated through an eagerness to shake things up, and you have 10 missions, but the replay value in the game means that you will likely come back again and again if you're the type of gamer who enjoys these types of games.
